DAY ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR: another nightshade – often mistaken for belladonna but the flowers are quite different in appearance. I know it as bittersweet but it’s also known as woodynightshade – it’s a scrambling climbing vine which won’t kill you, but you’ll still get pretty sick if you eat the berries (which you won’t anyway as they’re very bitter!). Several species of #britishbirds are keen however, and disperse the seeds very successfully! I let it grow where it lands, within reason. Happy birds, happy garden.
